no spamAdd URL = NO Spam Zone!

Listed below are few of the many common "Spamming" techniques some sites employ,
and which many search engines frown upon.

If you are promoting your site yourself, be very wary of these pitfalls.
bulletCreation of numerous sub promotion pages which all point back to the main site*
bulletVisible text Keyword stacking
bulletInvisible or "same color as background" Keyword stacking**
bulletUse of unrelated keywords
bulletUse of invisible or unseen hyperlinks
bulletExtremely long Title or Description meta tags.
bulletDuplication of Title or description meta tags

All of these "Cheats" or "Tricks" are simply a few of the techniques which are collectively referred to by search engines as "Spamming."

Any one of these used in your web site could forever condemn it to the backwaters of the web.  Read what  Alta Vista and  WebCrawler have to say about sites that they catch utilizing these techniques.  They have special "Anti-Spam" software specifically designed to root out these sites.

"Spamdexing" or What WebCrawler Doesn't Index.  It seems that more and more website owners and designers have been "spamming" -- including unsolicited, extra or irrelevant information on their pages, usually in the form of word lists -- in order to make search engines display them at the top of their listings. This practice is something that we strongly discourage. Searching the Internet is our business, and spamming actively interferes with providing everyone who uses the World Wide Web with the best search engine we possibly can.

In order to make our index cleaner and more navigable, and to foster a more level playing field for everyone, we've started removing these pages from our index and screening new submissions.  If you load pages with long, repetitve word lists, or titles this will cause WebCrawler either to ignore the repetition or, in some cases, to ignore such documents entirely.

And Yahoo!  Forget about Yahoo!  Each site submitted to Yahoo is manually verified by a human to ensure it is "Spam Free."  Your site may never even get listed with them, if you try too many tricks.  It's just not worth it.

* It is okay to have one "Front Door" page for aesthetics (like say you have a large graphic or image which looks cool and you want people to see it, but it will unnecessarily slow things down once inside the site).  This will also of course aid in promotion, but don't over do it!  One is enough.

** Invisible HTML "COMMENTS" tags are fine, just don't load them up with keywords.  Keep them short and sweet.   Do not "Stack" keywords in them and never use  "same color as background text" to increase the word destiny.
